One of the most important changes is <strong>license portability<\/strong>. For partners and customers, understanding what this means, what you can and cannot do, and the critical deadlines is essential to avoid disruption and protect your VMware investments.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Is_License_Portability\"><\/span><strong>What Is License Portability?&nbsp;<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>License portability is a feature of the new <strong>VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) subscription model<\/strong>. It allows customers to take their VCF licenses and run them across validated environments \u2014 including on-premises, edge deployments, and authorized partner clouds without having to repurchase or re-license.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For MSPs, this means you can help customers extend the value of their existing VMware investments, while giving them the freedom to choose the right cloud execution venue for each workload.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_MSPs_Can_Do_with_License_Portability\"><\/span><strong>What MSPs Can Do with License Portability<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Add-On Portability:<\/strong> Certain add-on services (such as security, DR, and AI) can also be ported from on-premises to the cloud.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Managed Services:<\/strong> MSPs can operate customer-owned licenses under the Broadcom EULA, provided they assume full compliance responsibility.&nbsp;<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bring Your Own License (BYOL):<\/strong> Customers can port their active VCF subscriptions from on-premises to an authorized partner environment like OTAVA\u2019s private cloud.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hybrid Deployment:<\/strong> VCF licenses are portable across on-prem, edge, and partner-hosted private or public clouds, enabling flexible workload mobility.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_MSPs_Cannot_Do_Moving_Forward\"><\/span><strong>What MSPs Cannot Do Moving Forward&nbsp;<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>No Hosting with Reseller Licenses:<\/strong> VMware licenses purchased via traditional resellers or OEMs cannot be repurposed for hosted or multi-tenant services.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>No White Label Program:<\/strong> Broadcom is sunsetting the White Label model on <strong>October 31, 2025<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>No New Contracts Post-Deadline:<\/strong> Departing VCSP partners cannot add new customers, execute new contracts, or renew existing ones after <strong>October 31, 2025<\/strong>.
