Ensure the plan addresses the following, at a minimum:<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>Roles, responsibilities, and communication and contact strategies in the event of a compromise including notification of the payment brands, at a minimum<\/li>\n<li>Specific incident response procedures<\/li>\n<li>Business recovery and continuity procedures<\/li>\n<li>Data back-up processes<\/li>\n<li>Analysis of legal requirements for reporting compromises<\/li>\n<li>Coverage and responses of all critical system components<\/li>\n<li>Reference or inclusion of incident response procedures from the payment brands<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p>In addition, the PCI standard 9.5 requires a <a href=\"https:\/\/otavawebsite.wpengine.com\/solutions\/data-protection\/cloud-backup\/\">data backup<\/a> plan, <a href=\"https:\/\/otavawebsite.wpengine.com\/solutions\/data-protection\/disaster-recovery-as-a-service\">disaster recovery<\/a> plan, emergency mode operation plan, testing and revision procedures, and application and data criticality analysis.<a title=\"\" href=\"file:\/\/\/C:\/Users\/tpham\/Desktop\/DR%20White%20Paper%20v.1.0.docx#_ftn2\">[2]<\/a><\/p>\n<div>\n<blockquote><p>Store media back-ups in a secure location, <strong>preferably an off-site facility<\/strong>, such as an alternate or back-up site, or a commercial storage facility. Review the location\u2019s security at least annually.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p>The auditor testing procedures call for observation of the storage location\u2019s physical security. A <a href=\"https:\/\/otavawebsite.wpengine.com\/operations\/locations\/michigan-cloud-and-data-centers\/\/compliance\/pci-compliant-data-centers\">PCI compliant data center<\/a> should have proper physical security including limited access authorization, dual-identification control access to the facility and servers, and complete environmental control with monitoring, logged surveillance, alarm systems and an alert system.<\/p>\n<p>Ideally, if outsourcing your disaster recovery solution, partner only with a disaster recovery provider that allows physical tours and walkthroughs of their facilities.
