Since opening our Indiana Data Center<\/a> earlier this year, we\u2019ve spent plenty of time discussing the technical architecture behind creating Indianapolis\u2019 first secure<\/a>, compliant<\/a> enterprise-class cloud computing<\/a>, colocation<\/a>, offsite backup<\/a> and disaster recovery<\/a> facility.<\/p>\n

However, we\u2019re also quite proud of the staff we\u2019ve compiled to operate that data center. This is the first in a series of posts introducing you to the Indiana Data Center team. We start with Data Center Administrator \u2013 and former military helicopter pilot \u2013 Travis Arbogast:<\/p>\n

1. How long have you been with Online Tech?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Since September 2014.<\/p>\n

2. Can you describe your responsibilities?<\/strong><\/p>\n

As Data Center Administrator, I am responsible for the operation and day-to-day management of tasks for the data center; responsible for managing vendors on site to complete maintenance, repairs, etc.; provide smart-hands remote support for clients and OT staff; and assist in maintaining 100% critical system uptime for the data center.<\/p>\n

3. What are your areas of expertise?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am an expert at being a \u201cjack of all trades\u201d and learning rapidly.<\/p>\n

4. Where did you work before Online Tech?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Just prior to working with OT, I spent 2.5 years training US Marines on data systems for a defense contractor. I also flew OH-58D Kiowa Warriors as a Warrant Officer in the US Army for almost 12 years.<\/p>\n

5. Where\/what did you study?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I studied Aviation Technology at Purdue University before joining the Army. I am CCNA, Security+, and Network+ certified. I am also an FAA certified airframe mechanic and a US Army Safety Course graduate.<\/p>\n

6. Why did you choose to come to work for Online Tech?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Online Tech is a company built on great values, focused on improving the standard, and committed to growth. When I learned they were opening a data center in my hometown, I knew I had to be a part of the team!<\/p>\n

7. If you could send a mass message to the entire Indianapolis and greater Indiana business communities, what would you say about Online Tech?<\/strong><\/p>\n

People make the difference, and our people are great people!<\/p>\n

8. What is your favorite thing about Indianapolis?<\/strong><\/p>\n

There are many great things about Indianapolis, but the love of sports is at the top of my list.<\/p>\n

9. What’s the one thing you would change about Indianapolis?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The weather!!!<\/p>\n

10. If you could have dinner with any four people, dead or alive, who would you invite?<\/strong><\/p>\n
